The New York Solo Exhibition & Historic Milestones

A central chapter of our international exhibition history is closely tied to the prestigious Society of Illustrators in New York City. On the occasion of our 25th career anniversary, the Society curated our major solo exhibition, 'Balbusso Twins: Illustrating with Two Souls' (April 15 – September 12, 2026). We are proud to announce that this landmark retrospective is presented in official partnership with Pentagram Design and the Bologna Children's Book Fair, featuring a selection of 130 works with an official catalog beautifully designed by Pentagram.

This landmark retrospective coincided with our acceptance of the historic 2026 Hamilton King Award. Furthermore, our studio is deeply honored to have an artwork selected for the institutional exhibition celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Society of Illustrators (May 16 – August 8, 2026), cementing our place among the very few Italian artists permanently woven into the history of American illustration.

Come and explore a curated selection of 130 works celebrating our 25-year career, including the illustrations that won us the historic 2026 Hamilton King Award! Whether you are in New York or just passing through, don’t miss the chance to experience this journey between our two souls: painterly and graphic.

We are also thrilled to share that an exclusive exhibition catalogue is available to accompany the show. This is a very special, strictly limited edition of only 500 copies.

This beautiful volume was entirely designed, produced, and sponsored by the legendary design studio Pentagram Texas. This project was made possible solely through their immense generosity. We would like to express our deepest, warmest, and most heartfelt thanks to DJ Stout and Davian-Lynn Hopkins for their extraordinary support, passion, and dedication in turning this dream into reality.

Special Preview: Bologna Children's Book Fair 2026

Before opening in New York, the exhibition project enjoyed an exclusive Special Preview at the Bologna Children's Book Fair 2026, our official partner for this event. On April 14 (1:45 PM – 2:30 PM), we hosted a highly successful launch panel at the Designers’ Studio (Hall 29 BCBF). The event featured an inspiring conversation with legendary designer DJ Stout (Pentagram Austin) and Arabelle Liepold (SI), beautifully moderated by Steven Guarnaccia. The talk was followed by a celebratory toast right in front of our exhibition preview, marking a perfect collaboration between Italy and New York.

We are deeply honored to announce a historic milestone that marks an absolute pinnacle in our artistic journey. On the occasion of the celebrations for the 125th Anniversary of the Society of Illustrators in New York, our artwork "Gracelle's Heart" (cover art for Macmillan Saturday Books) has been officially included in the institution's prestigious historical exhibition. To see our work permanently woven into the history of this legendary American institution — our home away from home — is an immense honor.

This exceptional recognition consolidates our presence in New York, where our Solo Exhibition is also currently on view, celebrating our 25 years of international career. Being embraced by the history of American illustration art while simultaneously hosting a monographic retrospective in the very same building crowns a memorable year. This follows our recent receipt of the prestigious Hamilton King Award, where we were recognized as the first Italian illustrators in history to win this accolade.

An Independent Success

This international achievement rewards a path of absolute independence. It stands as tangible proof that true excellence is built solely on merit, hard work, consistency, and complete stylistic and intellectual coherence. We celebrate 25 years of career, proud to represent Italian art and creativity in the ultimate temple of global illustration.

Institutional Highlight: The Jella Lepman Exhibition in Trieste

On the occasion of the 39th IBBY International Congress (International Board on Books for Young People), our work was featured in the prestigious exhibition "Let us start with children. Books as bridges" ("Fateci cominciare dai bambini. I libri come ponti").

Dedicated to the extraordinary life of journalist, writer, and IBBY founder Jella Lepman, the exhibition opened on August 28, 2024, at the Umberto Veruda Hall (Piazza Piccola 2) in Trieste, Italy, and remained open until September 8, 2024.
